How would you describe your role in the recruitment department and what do you find most enjoyable about it?
My role in the recruitment department involves processing applications and conducting interviews. Interviews, in particular, are the most interesting because each applicant has a different story and reason for choosing to study with us.
What is the typical admission process at Unicorn University like?
Applicants submit their applications through our website, which we then process. We schedule an online interview with them. After the interview, we send out acceptance decisions and study contracts.
What is the most common question from applicants?
There aren't many questions, as everything is detailed on our website. However, if I were to choose one, it would be whether the distance learning format is fully online and if it truly is.
Do you encounter any common concerns or myths about studying?
Occasionally, applicants worry about IT when they have no prior experience. That's not an issue as we provide all necessary training and support at our school.
What are the advantages of studying at Unicorn University?
The main advantage is our digital educational materials, accessible online from anywhere and at any time. Another advantage is practical teaching, and a third is our unique Work & Study program, allowing students to work and study concurrently with a stipend.
Can you tell us about this year's adaptation course?
This year, the adaptation course will take place in Rumburk from September 26th to September 29th. There will be plenty of sports and social activities. The adaptation course is not just for new applicants but also for current students.
What advice would you give to applicants considering applying?
Above all, they shouldn't hesitate to apply. They should submit their application and then we'll discuss everything together during the interview.
Do you notice any trends or changes in interest in specific study programs?
Recently, there has been an increased interest in private universities. Interest in IT has been higher for a long time. Of course, the biggest current trend is artificial intelligence.
How do you assess the importance of international students for Unicorn University and how do you approach them?
We have partnerships with foreign schools under the Erasmus+ program. International students are important to us, both for Czech students and for our teaching staff.
Can you describe a typical applicant profile?
There's no typical applicant profile. We have students who apply right after graduation, students who are already working and studying, and students from abroad.
How do you strive to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for new students?
We conduct interviews in the form of motivational conversations. We have a great academic department, and students can participate in extracurricular activities through the student club, adaptation course, and others.
Can you share some interesting students or alumni?
Among our alumni, we have Martin Macík, this year's Dakar Rally winner, Vratislav Kalenda, founder of Applifting, and among current students, we have several Olympians such as Vítek Přindiš and Matěj Krska.
Is it possible to study abroad at Unicorn University under the Erasmus+ program?
Yes, we have the Erasmus+ program, and students from all forms of study can apply. Abroad, they can both study and participate in work placements.
