Master's
Czech
Jan Čadil

The diploma seminar is divided into two parts. Diploma seminar 1 is taught in the 3rd studying semester. It is followed by the Diploma Seminar 2 in the 4th semester.

Within the diploma seminar 1, students will get acquainted with the process of creating a diploma thesis assignment and the process of writing a final thesis. During the diploma seminar 1 students work on the assignment and project of the diploma thesis. Within this activity, they determine the topic, find the thesis supervisor, define the aim of the thesis, hypothesis and research questions. They will also get acquainted with the state of current knowledge and define the contribution of their diploma thesis to the topic. The output of the course is the assignment of the diploma thesis and the project of the diploma thesis. Students present their content at the final workshop, where they will receive feedback.

A significant part of the total study load is the student's independent work. Direct teaching is focused on providing key information on the process of processing final university theses and the demands placed on their content and form. Students will also get acquainted with the search of relevant sources, data collection and processing, citation ethics and typographic rules.
